Artist Rebecca Munce will begin an eight-week residency at the Rozynski Art Center in January 2022.
The artist
Born in 1991, Rebecca Munce's practice includes drawing, ceramics, and writings in order to map ecologies surrounding cosmological fear and individual earth narratives. Munce has participated in numerous exhibitions in Canada, the United States, Italy, and Japan. Most recently, the artist's work has been exhibited at Spring/Break (New York, 2021), Centre Clark (Montreal, 2021), McBride Contemporain (Montreal, 2020), Stewart Hall Gallery (Montreal, 2019), Deux Poissons Gallery (Montreal, 2018), FOFA Gallery (Montreal, 2018) and Momozono Gallery (Tokyo, 2018), among others. She holds a BFA from York University and an MFA from Concordia University.

Her research and creative project will blend her two mediums of choice, drawing and ceramics. The project aims to create a series of ceramic pieces imitating framed drawings that reflect Italian Renaissance Majolica and 17th-century Baroque framing techniques while maintaining the whimsical and naïve treatment of the materials in his art practice.
The fruits of her residency will be shown in an exhibition entitled Midnight Maps at DRAC from March 19 to May 22, 2022.
